are stock sleeves ok for b20 vtec with a 55 shot?
i want to build up a b20/vtec engine and was wondering if it would be ok to use the stock sleeves (re-sleeving is a little expensive). i will however have forged pistons, rods, nice rod bolts and head studs. i plan on putting every bolt on imaginable on and also some new cams (thinking skunk stage 2) and some head work with a 55 shot for the track. would this combo hold up?
also, would i be able to retain a/c with this setup?

I wouldnt recommend it
B20 sleeves are very weak and with a 50 shot of nos i wouldnt risk it. If you want the motor to last I would deffenitly resleeve it.
Why spend all this money on your motor if you not gonna do it right?

they may be considered slightly weaker than other non-siamesed bore Honda engines, but are by no means "very weak" as you have stated...
here is more ACCURATE info on the sleeves:

a/c is for pussies...hahahaha j/k, from what im told b20 sleeves are weak...but thats from a kid that tried to run 16psi on a stocker block...you should consider the compresion of your b20/vtec and maybe you wont need to re-sleeve...but aparently you should be able to run a low shot (50) and be ok...but like i said, if your gonna be running a real high compression, i wouldnt advise it

anything is possible it just depends how you treat it really. my friend brandon has a 91 si hatch(heavy as hell) w/ a b20 w/ a built ls head and he runs a 100shot singlefogger on it all day long. he's put at least 10 bottles through it with no problems.
