97 B18C1 into an 88 CRXsi?? need some help
I found a killer deal on a us spec b18c1 from a 97 gsr. so it is an OBD2. I FIRST NEED to know is 1400$ a good price for engine tranny ecu and some other odds and ends?
second I need to know how hard is it to do this swap, I did a search, and I couldnt find much on doing an OBD2 conv. in a crx.
I have done 2 swaps before, a b18b in a 93 hatch and a b16a2 in a 92 hatch.
so if anyone can tell me what I am getting my self into I would appreciate it.
also if anyone has any tech on this swap please let me know, or if you can just tell me here what I need.
Thanks

that price is great.. just hope it's not stolen ......um i don't suggest obd 2 change it to obd 1 or run all pre obd stuff on it...(dist, wiring harness, injectors, ecu).. unless you can get the whole harness from the car then that will be easy for obd 2....

Yea, that is an extremely good deal, sounds too good to be true though.
1. Send your ecu (assuming that it is a PM6) to Zdyne and have a B16A One Wire Conversion done to it. If it is not a PM6, then hit up 91CivicSi, he's got that he will sell.
2. Retain your D16 injectors cause their OBD0. Or, you can covert your car to OBD1 which is a whole other list itself.
3. Get a '90-'91 LS distributor, its OBD0, and modify it to fit the VTEC head.
4. Get Y1 tranny. If you have an extra $800 laying around or can borrow from somebody, I would HIGHLY recommend an LSD.
I think thats everything. No big deal.
If you have specific questions just ask.

what do you think would be the easiest thing to do, convert to obd1(that is compatable with OBD2 right?)
or like you said try and stay obd0, I never thought of doing that. if you have a parts list of what I need to convert to either OBD1 or OBD0 please let me know, also how do you modify the ditributor to fit?
I know this is a lot of questions, but every time I search I find 10 dif answers.
thanks
Craig
oh the engine is lagit, car was in an accident, and the kids dont know what they have

I am glad to hear that you have a tranny w/ LSD. Lucky SOB.
Staying OBD0:
-See above
-Also, retain your 1 wire O2 sensor.
-About retaining your D16 injectors, all Honda are 240cc except some of the Preludes.
Converting to OBD1: More hassle and $$$
-OBD1 ECU, I using a chipped P28
-OBD0 > OBD1 jumper harness (got mine from blown90hatch)
-4 wire O2
-OBD1 distrubutor, I am using a 95 LS one
-And some basic wiring skills
As far as modifying the LS dist...
The colors represent the LS footprint on the VTEC head. As you can see, the blue one would hit the VTEC Solenoid so you have to cut that one off. Thats it. So you will have one bolt holding the dist. on but thats ok.

on hasport website they say use a 2 wire conv ecu? is that only if I go to OBD1?
so your saying the OBD0 is the way to go right, but does it have any drawbacks?
what type of harness will I use for the engine the gsr engine harness? or a conv. harness if I am staying with OBD0?
thanks for all the help

Unless the 88 Si is different from the 91 Si, I did this swap (95 GSR motor > 91 Civic Si) for 91CivicSi on here and the only wire we had to run into the engine bay, ecu-wise, was for the VTEC Solenoid. The OBD0 ecu did not use a VTEC Pressure Switch or Knock Sensor.
We used his Civic Si engine harness.
