Default Sorry, another Q about B16A2 (SIR-II) into EK

I have done some research, but most of the topics I found are dealing with JDM engines. This is my situation, I own a 97 Civic Hatch, which is OBD2. I can get a B16A2 from a 92-95 EG6 from Germany or whatever the chasis code is for a 5th gen with b16, which is OBD1, if I am not mistaking. The engines here are LHD, so I guess I can use the engine harness from the donor car. I believe I still need the two mounts from a 99-00 Si and the AC bracket. Do I need a new shift linkage, what kind of axles do I use? I guess I need a ECU from a VTEC OBD1. What else do I need? Am I on the right track or am I completely wrong?

if you inexperience with swaps, your much better off buying a a complete change over swap. comes with nearly everything you will possible need. Some people will try to tell you that you will waste money but from what I've seen you will end up buying parts that won't fit or work. I can't say I've used it but it is a reputable site that I've seen on here much more than once is http://www.hmotorsonline.com , oh i just noticed you live in Germany ... so that probably won't work, the shipping would be insane but there might be something similar you could get over there.

B16A 92-95 or 96-98 (SiR-II) Complete Change Over

Dude that's a cakewalk swap. Buy aftermarket b series mounts for your year like avid, you might have to order the rear T bracket from an Si from majestic, Si shift linkage, Si axles, use your harness that's in your car wiring you can read up on I'm not going into that, if you want to go obd1 you need to do some distributor wiring, (which I recommend doing) run wire for vtec, get obd conversion harness and get a chipped p28 and get it tuned or just run the stock p30

This might sound like a very noob question, but I want to understand correctly. Why can't you use the engine harness from the OBD1 engine if you are also using a OBD1 ECU on a OBD2 car? It should be able to plug right in, so what is the reason? Nothing else will be able to plug in to the ECU or what?

it won't plug in. 96-00 civic has a 1 piece harness into the cabin, whereas 92-95 civic and integra have 2 piece harnesses.

That is the part I don't understand. Is is an issue getting the harness from inside the car to the engine????

If you use the harness that goes with the car you can use most of the same plug ins from the obd2 engine in the obd1 engine, there is some wiring that will need done but you will figure that out as you go along. The best thing you can do is READ UP on everything, there's alot of infomation on this site and various other sites to do with everything Honda. I've found the best way to learn is to dive in head first and figure it out as you go along.

Thanks to all. I have been reading a LOT about this swap and it seems pretty straight forward. I will be getting a 92-95 B16A2 with ECU, Axles and Shift Linkage. I have sourced a 96-98 EX Wiring Harness. From what I have read, all I got left is to buy the two mounts, the AC bracket and do the wiring for the Distributor Cap and the IAT. Hopefully I won't have any issues re-importing my car back to the states, since I will have a OBD2 car with an OBD1 engine.
