Problems with obd1 jdm b16 in my 96ek hatch
Ok so ive done my swap now, i followed Katmans write up and now the car runs but its running very rough and when i give it to much gas it bogs and then dies
Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Is it wired right? Did you check for consistency from connector pin to ecu pin on each wire?? I'm working on the same swap, mines all wired up correct I'm just waiting on the tranny torque bracket... Does your gauge cluster work?? That's what I'm wondering about mine....

motor seems to be running fine, it doesnt shake or anything when running its just not idleing right, sounds very rough. When i unplug the the map sensor or the iacv it sounds diff, like worst so i figure that they are working correctly.... Im getting fustraded, i really wanted to get my car done and finished for a local show here in houston.....doesnt look like its gonna happen

Did you change all of the connectors on the dizzy and on the alternator? I just wired mine and it was A LOT of moving pins, all of the wire colors were different from obd2 to obd1 so I had to get diagrams for both.... You wired the knock sensor right? And it's going to the correct pin? I would double check the o2 sensor wiring as well, it kind of sounds like something there. I will be dropping mine in tomorrow, so I will let you know if this happens to me...

Re: (aznej2)
you sir are correct, figured it out last night.... i had already tried switching the plugs before but i did not let the ecu reset. Lastnight i swapped the tps and map sensors and the disconected my batt for a few minutes.....after i connected it all again she turned on like a champ with no problems

Re: (bigwally9876)
Ok got mine swapped last night, it starts perfectly fine. Runs awesome for a 3-7 seconds , then dies. The more I cycle the key (to build fuel pressure) the longer it will idle. If I touch the gas at all it dies instantly. I know everything is wired right. I tried swapping the MAP and TPS but haven't tried resetting the ECU in between. It just sounds like it runs out of gas. Checked fuel pump with a test light and it's staying on until after the car stalls. Can't be injectors because it idles as smooth as can be (during its 5 seconds of glory). BTW my swap is a Obd1 B16a in a 99 DX hb..... Any suggestions??

Yeah I repinned the ecu on the alternator and dizzy. Wiring is all good for all of that, I tested continuity from connector the the right pin on the ecu (after the jumper harness). I did that for all connectors. I'm thinking that the ground and the load for the TPS might be backwards so I will check that tomorrow. Do you think it could be the fuel pump? I can hear it when I turn the get to Ignition and the more I cycle the key to ignition to build up fuel pressure the longer it will run. I haven't worked on it in a couple days, I'm kind of taking a break to get a fresh head on it so I haven't tried switching the plugs yet. But I will also check the voltage on the TPS and make sure it's all good. If you think of anything else, let me know.
Thanks!

MAP sensor... Pulled it, reset ecu and it idles. Rewired it and it will run with it plugged in but it's still not right. Ordering one tomorrow and that should be it! Thanks.

Re: (PwRLiMeH22)
lmao same thing happened to me when I did my swap, I was thinking for hours looking over my wiring and found that my tps and map plugs were the same, swap'd them around and it brought a smile to my face when i fired it up.
