predicted 1/4 time
What would be the predicted 1/4mile time with the ls tranny with this set up:
95 civic dx on nittos & 16" rota c8's (15lbs)
jdm 2nd gen b16
gsr throttle body, bored out, port & polished
edelbrock intake manifold, port and polished
clutchmasters stage 3 clutch
skunk 2 short throw
STR powerflow fuel rail
what about this setup with a gsr tranny?

With LS tranny you would be lucky to hit 14's. With the GSR the car is able to run mid 14's. I don't know about the JG manifold though on a stock B16, that's gonna hurt more than help.

Re: predicted 1/4 time (nsxmatt)
how would the manifold hurt it? and the ls tranny si really that bad? the reason i ask about the 2dif trannies is bc the guy i am getting this motor from has a perfect ls tranny and a gsr tranny with a 2nd gear grind and im not sure which one to get.

The manifold is for turbo or very high output all motor applications, not a near stock B16.
The LS tranny does not have the gears to keep you in VTEC during shifts and will not work well with the powerband of the B16. GSR is a little better but a B16 or Type R tranny is best.

You might have to call miss cleo for the future on this one. That manifold is just too big for your setup. The b16 is a torqueless motor....it needs short gears to make it work hard.Your setup sounds like its good for a future turbo setup....

Let's say that lowering the VTEC point would bring it more in synch with the gearing of the LS tranny, well what's that doing to the synch of everything else in the motor: cam lift, oil pressure, fuel maps, etc? The only time an LS tranny would be a decent choice for the B16 were if the mtoor was turbo'd. Another big misconception with people, a lower VTEC engagement doesn't always = more power.

Re: predicted 1/4 time (VTECVillain)
good point... so i would i just be better of gettin a stock b16 with the b16 tranny from hmotors rather than getting that lightly modded b16 with a ls or gsr tranny?
