plzz help i dont know what to do with my h22 swap
hi .... as of now i own a crashed 96 bb1(h22a1) or si vtec model prelude .as i said its crashed from the back and is not drivable so im planing to do a swap(just into another prelude 4th gen of course i already found the other prelude it has a blown h23 still sitting in it ....i told a shop how much they would charge me for everything they said 600(plus me giving them the blown motor with its tranny) me still being 17 i cant really afford that so my question is should i attempt to do the motor and transmission swap with me and my friends or should i tell another friend of mine who professionally works on Sti's(hes only charging me 400).
is this that hard of a swap ive heard that it is
me and my friends have never swapped an engine before we have all the tools to do it and we have the space though ive done a lot of research and i do somewhat know my way around an engine but ive just never pulled out or put in an engine
please share your thoughts and any info will help
thanks

I always thought it would be cool to hook up an h22 to a wood chipper. Imagine how much chips that h22 can hack once vtec cracks!
But if you really need to build a car. Its a lot more fun when you build it yourself. I started off going to shops at first since I had no tools or knowledge. Eventually I started buying tools and doing different projects. Its way better that way. You can do the job exactly how you want and control the outcome. Plus, its 10x cheaper to do it yourself. And the knowledge gained is free. Sure, you will make mistakes but who cares. Preludes and honda engines are a dime a dozen. ++, working on cars with friends is so fun. Its a great way to spend time with homies. Once the motor starts... You'll never turn back.

Swapping from one H to another is simply just removing the old motor and putting the new motor in. Going from non-vtec to vtec is fairly simple also with all the knowledge on honda-tech. All I can advise is get to reading and learn until your comfortable attempting the swap.
