Default Engine Swap Problem

hello everyone

I own a 92 prelude si, and i errrr...........kinda blew up the engine.
but that was last summer when i was young and stupid, anyways i took it to a local shop here in dallas texas to do the engine swap, I wanted to switch from my blown up H23 to a H22. and told them this clearly! well 2 days ago i picked up the prelude from the shop, open the hood and............F22B. WTF, okay so yeah it runs, right now its at the tranny shop, i kinda blew that up too

so what i really want to know, do i make them redo the install and put a H22 in?
what kind of performance does the F22B get? (ive heard 135 and 160hp)VTEC or Non-VTEC?
is it as reliable as the H22 or H23

ive googled as much as i can, but still want a real persons input

thanx for any help your willing to give

the f22b is infact a vtec motor however that sucks that you didn't get an h22, what did they quote you as a price? if it's less than 2500 you shouldn't have expected an h22
and yes the f22b is very reliable, it's still a honda engine, it came in the EX accords

i think that 2200 is fine for an h22 swap..you figure 1200 for an h22 at hmotors + shipping is around 1400...plus 500 for labor and 800 at most and there's your 2200 for jdm or usdm h22. i'd make them redo it b/c performance difference between f22 and h22 is quite a bit

I'm pretty sure the F22B is not a VTEC motor. Basically, it is about the same as an H23.

If you paid for an H22 swap, I would be pissed; take it back and demand them do it right. If they only charged you for an F22B swap, then that's cool.

That price seems like they only charged for the F22B swap; an H22 swap would probably be more than that.

the F22B is DOHC, so i guess thats a lil better, i need to better look at my bill and see what exactly they charged for and everything, and i will most likely be taking it back there so they can put my H22 in

anyways thanx for everyones help!

i did, the place it was at only did the install, so when i realized it, even before i drove off, i called the place where they got the engine, but they conveniently were out of the office, ive left dozen of messages, but no replys. i had to take it to the transmission shop the gears were slipping when i tried to drive it, but after thats done its going back to the engine install shop

so you have had the wrong ening in teh car since last summer, and the shop taht put it in didnt know it put the wrong engine in...and you ar ehoping to get them to repair ore repalce it perhaps?

if i were you i wouldnt go near that shop again...who was it anyway?? if you dotn want to say what shop ont he board please PM me.

the f22b is not a bad engine, but its not an h22a by a longshot....anyway as far as how do you make them put the right engine in...its way too late if they did it last summer. last summer when you went to pick the car up would be when you should have raised hell adn refused the car and made them put the right engine in then. at this point you can go buy an h22a and have it put in....if you wnat i can refer you to a couple of guys that can do it and do it well for a reasonable price. they are in the garland area....
