Default Opinion wanted...about to drop some $ on GSR Swap

I'm real indecisive so help me out here...I've found a really nice GSR Swap (everything included and then some) The motor is fairly new (newer than 1997) and has less than 30K on it...I can get this for $3000

Should I buy it ?

As long as it is in good condition and you trust the seller I would buy it. That is a really good price for a newer gsr motor.

That is an excelent (almost extraordinary) price for a full swap. If everything is legit than go for it. If it feels shady have the person selling it provide the VIN #'s and have them checked. If the seller won't or cant do that, walk away from it. You don't want the hassle of a hot motor.

not to sound pesimistic or anything but I got my gsr motor which was a 97 with like 50k miles for $3500 complete swap and even that is a good deal.I would just be real cautious read topic post forGSR v-tec nightmare)on page 1 of this board.this is the crap that has happened to me with my swap and probally cost me another $1000.I just encourage you like everyone else to be very cautious make sure you really trust the buyer

Deomonte, I've been following your post...I think you'll get that worked out man. You guys seem to be on the right track. I'm trying to be as cautious as possible, this seller is a reputable place who actually holds alot of respect on this board, so I'm not too worried about it being hot or completely trashed.

Well then in that case I would say jump on that price.Because I searched all over the country(New York,San Diego etc.)before I finally found someone that had one for sale.So not to mention its a semi tough motor to even find but the average price I found was between $3300-$3800.So good luck and let me know how it turns out for you.

run a compression check first. 3K for a GSR swap is really good. I'm just one who's always suspicious.. so run a check on everything first. If its clean.. get it!!

I'll do a compression check when I get it...it's not local

They have some warranty with the motor and anyways it's getting sent out to GE and it's getting new internals so I guess it don't matter what the compression check says ;P

First things first, Jessica Alba is hot as hell...

I decided not to go LS/VTEC b/c I'll be running serious boost on this motor

If your getting new internals.... you might as well get an older motor for cheap since you replacing everything anyway
