New Project: B18 GSR into 99 Civic Si
Hey guys,
I'm working on getting a motor into my girlfriends 99 civic si. She's pretty much decided that she wants a B18C1. I'm not all to familiar with Hondas so I wanted to get some guidance before I dive into this swap.
The car has no motor in it now and is pretty much ready for a swap. Note that the car will not have AC or power steering when I'm done...Also, I don't have motor mounts or a wiring harness for it yet.
Here's what I'm looking to buy: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30009
That's the GSR complete changeover from Hmotors. Seems like it comes with everything you need for a swap, its just a matter of what parts will work and what parts wont.
I've done some research but still have a few questions.
1. Can I use the supplied motor mounts? Or do I need to buy 99-00 si mounts?
2. Can I use the supplied wiring harness? Or do I need a 99-00 si harness or a custom harness? (Keep in mind there will be no ac or ps). I do need the dashboard and all lights to work though.
Anything else I'm missing? I've got the bay pretty much gutted out and am hoping to mostly take what comes in the link above and drop it in the car.
Here's some pics of the car just for fun. (It had an LS motor in it before which I removed).
Thanks!

Re: New Project: B18 GSR into 99 Civic Si
1. You want the 99-00 si mounts and rear L bracket.
2. You want the 99-00 si engine harness, you do not want 96-98 civic or a 2 piece integra harness either. add iab wires to it or just open up the iab all together depending on ecu. If you can only find is a 99-00 ex harnesses, you'll have to add the knock sensor wiring, not the end of the world.
3. I'd like to find an 99-01 ITR ecu for it, for the rev limit and to get rid of iab and the need to wire it up. Or a 99-00 si ecu will work, or a 99-01 gsr good too.

EX engine harnesses already have knock sensor wiring as the Y8 engines have knock sensors, just make sure you get a 5 speed engine harness.

There's no reason for the ITR ecu unless you are going to be going for ITR cams the revs won't make a difference on the GSR engine. I'd just go with the P72 ECU from a 99 GSR as it doesn't have an immobilizer. The IABS will stay open all the time if you don't hook them up to the ECU.
