my gsr swap cuts off at 7200 rpm?
I got a 95 eg coupe ex with a gsr swap and when you rev it out the fuel cut out is at 7200. i know this is not the red line on this motor and it should rev farther. it has the p72 obd1 ecu in it and everything on the motor is stock. any suggestions how to fix this?

This is a common problem with 92-95 Civics... and before you all start down the wrong road to a fix, do the following:
In a safe location with a long straight, floor the car in 3rd gear starting at 2000 RPM. Listen for the VTEC crossover point. Make note of the RPM on the tach when VTEC crossover occurs. In a stock ECU, VTEC is set at 4600 and redline is 8200. IF your tach shows a lower VTEC crossover point than stock (or lower than the tuned point), your tach is reading slow, and thus, your redline will appear to be low as well.
What this means is that the engine/computer are working just fine, but the tach is damaged. The fix is replacing the gauge cluster with a known good one or buying a new tach assembly from Honda.

Re: my gsr swap cuts off at 7200 rpm?
Try a aftermarket tach! I had this problem when I did a gsr swap into a 94vx. Vtec came on around the 4500ish mark where it should but cut out at 7200. I swapped stock tach out for another stock tach and its better. There are two little adjustments on the back of the tach to dial it in. My original only had one dial. Second has both. If your looking at the circuit board on the back of the tach. The box on left is for lower rpm adjustments. The one on left if for higher rpms. Regardless if you want a accurate tach buy a aftermarket. I love my little 3 3/4 autometer.

@ 8,000rpm with a gsr trans
1st = 40mph
2nd = 65mph
3rd = 90mph
Using 195/50/15, 185/60/14, or 205/40/16 tire
Thats a free way too figure it out...but speedjunkie's method is ultimately the most accurate.

I am saying that the stock tach that comes in 92-95 civics have a adjustment on the back to dial it in. The vx I had only had one adjustment but two of the ex/si tach's have had two. I can not be 100% on which model's have what because these are the only three tach's I have delt with first hand.

Re: my gsr swap cuts off at 7200 rpm?
Have the same problem. cuts off after swapping engine in EJ coupe, after instaling P06 with gsr base map, vtec works how it should, yesterday car cuts even at ~6000rpm. No cells
Im not using a stock ecu because OBD2b jumper is quite expensive with shipping costs to Europe
Edit: Did some search, three things- TPS, IACV or Dizzy probably. I know that My TPS at full TB opening shows 82% can be a problem?
