Default VTEC problem, or so i think?

i was riding in my friends GS-R and vtec turn over at 4,4000rpm where it should be correct? his is stock, now thing ishe usually shifts at 7,500rpm, anything higher and will hit rev limiter

on my hybrid also a`95 powerplant, my vtec crossover is at 4.7 - 4.8k rpms, and i can take it all the way to 8,200 before it bogs......we are both using the stock p72 ecu also

is there a problem with either one? or is it just me?

If he is running the stock ECU then it will cut the fuel at redline......rev it to fuel cut off and watch the tach. FIRST check the ECU code and make sure it is what it is supposed to be.
