motor swaps illegal in California? I think this $hit is just a rumor. I was told our "governator" banned swapping motors and bar stickers will no longer be issued as of Aug 1st 08 . Please tell me this is a rumor.

I heard they closed the state ref. because of the state budget. I don't know what will happen if you get caught with a swap and I sure don't want to find out. lol. Wil, you driving the accord in the streets now?

well rite now there is no state ref due to the state budget issue so nobody can get a Bar sticker that has a motor swap..gotta wait and see wut happens

after i got my ref ticket 2 months ago i was in the process of gathering parts and gettin ready for Bar but now that there is nomore, im left with no car to drive(dont wanna get another ticket)and have to be driven everywhere by my gf

Have you tried to go to court and tell the judge that you can't get your car looked at by the state ref anymore? I heard that some judge actually told them not to worry about it and have it ok by the CHP instead as a fix ticket. Don't know if that's true.

What if one has an engine replacement for his old car which still needs to be certified by the state BAR? now that they shut it down, how's that poor individual getting to work with that "illegal" car?

Damn, I always wonder if Hot Rodders share the same headache.

well i went to court b4 i found out about the state ref closing...i searched around HT and everybody says to sell/transfer the car to someone else and the judge will dismiss my case so thats wut i did, i transfered the car over to my bro..i went to court and told the judge that but she didnt like me very much how i was polluting the earth and killing everybody in the court room including her so she dismissed my mod exhaust but didnt dismiss my mod emissions so i still have to pay $365...now im stuck cuzz the car is Partially under my bros name which cant be fully transfered until i pass smog and i dont noe anybody who does the illegal **** so im stuck like chuck wit no car to drive

my car is ready to go to the ref to pass bar but i cant go cuz there is no more ref..

im from nor cal, 2 hrs north of sac in Redding

no she is not letting me smog my car anywhere.. she saw that i didnt get my ticket signed off by a state ref for the mod emissions and even tho i sold the car she said that my car is still polluting the air since i didnt fix it so i still have to pay that mod emissions ticket...

i dont think any smog shops will smog my car bcuz its not Bar'd.. i have a feeling they just gonna pop the hood and take one look at it and see thats its not the factory engine and just tell me to be on my way...now the only choice i have is to wait until the whole state issue is resolved and the state ref is open or find some way to pass smog so i can transfer the car back to my name..even then i dunno if i still wanna drive it cuzz i cant afford another 3xx-4xx fix it ticket
