Default Easiest swaps

I'm picking up a 99 civic ex with a blown d16y8 for $1000!!!
Whats the easiest swap in this car, or what motor do I want to shoot for?
I've done a lot of research but want a straight forward answer to this particular model!
Thanks in advance
Matt

Well a direct swap would be a mini me! Or a JDM D15B which i personally like the best out of all the sohc's! But if you have the money just slap a used B18b and save cash and do an LS/vtec the swap is very straight forward, no cutting or special parts are needed just axles mounts and shift linkage

no everything is plug and play! you could even use a obd 1 engine or obd0 and convert your whole car to obd 1

not true at all

96-98 and 99-01 motor harness are diff...

OP just reuse your motor harness and call it a day

and if you use a obd0-1 motor just rewire iat sensor

may sound stupid, but would it be easier keeping it obd2? Rather than converting to obd1

Well in my eyes its ten times better that obd2, and its super easy to do, also if you are looking to get tuned some day you will find that its much harder to tune a obd2 vehicle and 8/10 times a tuner wont even touch a obd2 car. So if I were you just get a obd1 motor with the distributer already intact buy a chipped or even try to find a virgin p28, go to rywire.com and buy the obd2 to obd1 jumper harness!
