Nice progress, I agree about the axles but if you say it will work perfectly, then I will shut my mouth.

put the new integra breaks on tonight along with new pads, rotor, and all the struts, springs, and upper control arms from my wagon. pulled out the rear half of the interior. the reason u see the old civic caliper hanging is because my stainless lines have shown up yet and i dont want to get brake fluid all over the place just yet.

well i got the stainless lines in, put my MF performance LCA's on, and one hub is tottaly finished and painted. tomarrow were gunna finish the other one and hopefully my energy suspension trailing arm bushings show up so that wed night when i go get the other long axle that i can bolt the rear end up 100%

can u see anything strange in this photo?................. its only got an axle end in it so when she fires up for the first time i can do some RWD testing AKA cookies, burnouts, and maybe a drift or two.

you can also have used a big bolt/nut and washers on the hub/bearing instead of an entire axle end

Make sure you throw a stub into the tranny too. Otherwise, your oil will all come puking out the first time you round a corner.

If the rear tires do any spinning, and you only have 1 front driveshaft in there, the front diff is going to unload big time, and you'll either toast the diff prematurely, or the center viscous coupling is going to break.

^^ What? he has a halfshaft on one side and a inner cv cup on the other... not the whole axle, it's just his way of "sealing" the tranny so no fluid will leak out, and it will work just fine

But with the axle not attached to the wheel, the power has an easy outlet through the diff. That's only if the rear wheels spin a lot.

no, because the transfer case is driven off of the ring gear, there is no center diff. in the tranny.... The center coupling is on the drive shaft.

ya but me and mike were talking about it tonight and it may kill my tranny..... well kinda. the viscouse clutch in the tranny might get smoaked running it in just RWD. im gunna look into it some more ive asked on hondacivicwagon.com if anyone has attempted it with no luck...... ive got a spare 4wd tranny with a broken case that ive been meaning to gut for parts i was gunna check it all out and see how it works and see if its doable. after BOTI and the autocross i may just put it in RWD and go for it and see if when i put the axles back up front and see if the 4wd is still working.

As for progress i pulled the motor tonight and mike got the final welding done on the other trailing arm all it needs now is the bracket for the caliper to fit onto it then paint. got my clutch and flywheel today as well and with any luck my trailing arm bushings and axle show up so i can put it all together wheels and all and put it down on the ground.

There is no center differential or coupling in the tranny, it's all just gears in there, nothing gives or slips in the tranny.... Your issues will be with the center coupling in the middle of the drive shaft that will slip befor it locks the rear tires, thats how it works, but once it locks it locks unless you put down enough power to make the internal mechinism slip, but I hope your not planning to do that... I think just for testing reasons you should be ok. If you plan on doing some real RWD action then you should weld up that unit or get a custom drive shaft that is just a one piece design (no coupler)

ahh okay dont worry driveline got dropped off on monday and its going to be shortend and no more viscouse coupler.

heres a pic of the inner working of the tranny. i dont have a scanner so this is the best i can do. there is nothing about a viscouse coupler or a viscouse clutch.

tight work.... You should definately not have any issues in that case, but remember your not driving a Supra or a 240 so don't beat it too hard
