ls/vtec idling high
hey guys im gona need a little help. I just finished my ls/vtec the other day and i started it up and even after it warmed up it was idling at like 1500+, plus it is throwning a code and when i insert a jumper wire to the service check it dopesnt blink a code like it is supposed to and stays on. I have read it could be the idle air control valve or a vacume hose is in the wrong place. I know it is not the t. cable being to tight. Which hoses specificaly could be wrong. Also i just put a skunk2 intake manifold on it. I have a 95 integra ls and the head i was using is the b16a. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same exact setup as you, except I have ctr pistons. I have the same problem though. It will idle at like 1500, and the rpms fluctuate a lot when the gas is pressed.

whenever you do check for a code do you have the ecu plugged in and the car in the off position. If so, then you should turn the key to the on position, back to the off, then back on again, and it should work. Make sure you are also using the 2 wire, wire bundle.

Re: ls/vtec idling high (b18bpwr)
Hey guys..I'm running a ls/vtec and I had the same problem at first....Here's a couple things to check out...It work for me, but it might now work for you guys...Just want to share some info...My throttle cable was too tight...It look like it had slack, but it didn't. It also depend on your ecu....I found out that if I set my idle at 800 with the skunk 2 p28 ecu then the rpm would flauncate when i sit at the redlight...If i set it at 600 then it would idle fine. I also clean my idle air control and it help the idle out. Well, i hope you guys fine the problem...How are your car running beside the idling problem...Mine is in a 92 teg with ctr pistons and skunk 2 manifold with crower cams...List your setup and quartermiles if you have them...

Re: ls/vtec idling high (pregunta)
Got my idle back to 750 after warm up. Seems the culprit was a loose alternator belt. I just a new one on and evidently I didn't have it tight enough. I didn't have a belt tension measurer. Anyone know where I can find one?
Thanks for the ideas lsvtecracer. I'll keep those in mind should I run into this problem again.

Re: ls/vtec idling high (aacosta6)
hey guys thanks alot for the info. my problem was that i had a 2 vacum lines mixed up. just swapped them and the car is running great. i also went ahead and got a skunk2 intake manifold for the car now i got that dac intak dcsports headers and exhaust and the car feels great pulls really hard in the high rpms. im very satisfied on the job i did for the first time doing something big like that. although im getting a code for the pcv valve and if i bring it up to 1600 it bobs there then goes fine. anyways keep it real guys.
