Default idle problems....2000 civic Si

my idle goes from 1100 to 1900 up and down and up and down......then it stops at 1600 and goes 1600 1700 1600 1700 1600 1700 and then the car starts to over heat.....what can this be?? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

You might wanna check your IAC valve for loose bolts. My friend had the exact same problem and it was just one screw that was loose. It replicates a vacuum leak. check your throttle body screws too.

i already checked all those its throwing a code for v-tec silanoid could that be the problem????thanks for the help

If it's throwing the code for your vtec solenoid than that's your problem you need another solenoid!

Well, no offense there buddy, but that doesn't have to be the case. In OBD-II, the ECU looks to see if current is drawn when a certain component is activated. Perhaps he is getting a VTEC Solenoid Code because the signal wire has become corrupt and the ECU didn't sense that 'something' should have happen.

Is this the only code your getting?
