Default LS/VTEC Guru's ????'s

Hey guys. I'm wondering what I'm going to need, if anything, to run this setup safely.
(90)B18A/B?
1st gen B16 head
with 1st gen pistons (PR3)
From what I've read, the compression ratio is 11:5.1 with these pistons. I'm wondering if I'm going to need anything else to run such high comp. safely?
Thanks for the help guys, I'm very new to LS/VTEC so I don't know much about it yet.

Besides the normal "full buildup" you should be okay. Just remember to get some ARP rod bolts and don't rev past 8k unless you plan on getting a block girdle and oil squirters. Anything that you think would be beneficial, go ahead and do it. Don't half-*** the job because it won't last.

Anymore questions?

What is considered a "Full Buildup?". Right now were going to be using all the stock parts that came from the LS block (pretty high mileage), other than the pistons. What items do you recommend we replace?? The same engine already threw a bearing because it was done half ***, and the guy that did it also said from old age. So right now were replacing the bearing, the crank, and the piston. Do you see anything else we should do???
Thanks for the help.

Are these really necessary?
vtec oil&water pumps
shot peened rods
arp rod bolts
hone the block
Or are they just to be on the safe side?
Would I still be able to run safely with just the stock pumps, rods, and rod bolts? Also what does honing the block really do??
I am planning or replacing the rings, seals, and bearing though.

ARP rod bolts are a definite sure thing if plan to rev past stock ls revlimiter
shot peened rods adds strength
pumps are a must...they have a better flow rate and if your running high compression and making really good power, then yes they are a must
anytime you insert new pistons you have to hone the block

Thanks for all the great info Waffles. I'll keep you in mind if I have some more questions. Also do you know of places that I could get the items you mentioned?

The timing belt goes w/ the water pump I believe. If you use a GSR h2o pump, use a GSR timing belt. Somebody verify this.

LSpump=LSbelt, GSR pump=GSR belt
