Ls Vtec help
whats up im doing a ls vtec setup i know what i need to get which is almost taking care of but the questions i do have is with the tapping what does that do and do i have to take it to a machine shop. And also i have a pretty new motor i have a 2001 ls integra do you think ill have problems and what could i rev it up to, and also anyone that has done how long does it take once you have everything.
We're gonna need a lil more info than that to tell you. But I'll try. If your going with stock rods and pistons the I wouldnt rev past stock ls redline which is like 6800rpm. But with shot-peened rod and arp rod bolts you should be ok up to 8-8200rpm. Thats were you want to be to take advantage of vtec. I would recommend using a higher compression piston as well. I'm running jdm p30 pistons in mine and i like it. Not to high for street gas. And to the first part of the question I would just go with a Golden Eagle lsvtec conversion kit. They allow the swap with out tapping you just have to plug the head and run the oil line and your set. I would also recommend a good cam depending on you setup. I love my BC 3+ cams
the power on them is right where you want it for the street. Then all you need is a good tune and your set. Good luck!!
