Knock sensor question
I recently swapped an obd1 gsr engine (b18c1) into my 94 dx. I wired up the knock sensor but my p72 is throwing the cel code 23. Since I am 100% sure it is wired up correctly my only guess is that my knock sensor is no longer working. I searched and people said that everytime the knock sensor detects knock it pulls 3 degrees of timing and adds fuel until it no longer knocks. The question is how much timing does it pull if it is not working correctly. Does it just pull the initial 3 degrees? Also I went and checked on a price for a new knock sensor from Acura and it's like $140 so I was wondering if there is another knock sensor that will work. Many mr2 guys will just buy a GM 1 wire knock sensor and get a convertor that will convert it to the correct threads and pitch, suprisingly it will not trip out their computer. Has anyone tried anything like this?
Also throwing in a chipped p28 is not an option because I need to get it B.A.R. certified.

I think I know what the problem is...
The KS has 1 pin inside of the actual sensor.
Did you make sure that when you wired in the KS, that you were actually wiring right to the single pin inside the KS?
If you're not sure, there's an easy trick for this. If you're using a 2-pin plug for the KS, intertwine the wires so they become 1 wire, then splice this to a single wire and run it to the ecu pin location for the KS (D3 I believe it is).
Doing this will ensure that the KS pin is being contacted.

Thanks for the reply Katman, but yes I am sure that it is making contact to the pin. I using the original gsr engine harness so that connection is factory. I thought that there may a cut in the wire from the knock sensor to the cannon plug. So I said screw it and and wired a single wire from the knock sensor all the way to the ecu, but still no deal. Another member said that I can just ground the sensor and it will think that everything is fine, will I be able to slip by the B.A.R cert people by doing this?
