knock sensor??

Default knock sensor??

ok this is gunna be a dumb question and should explain itselkf but im just making sure..

what exactly does a knock sensor do??

i am runnin a 92 vx hatch with a 95 b18c1

with a p72 ecu
my knock sensor is not wired in but its also not throwing a code for it.. this will be my daily driver once i get it finishd . will not having the sensor affect anything??

so its not wired in and not throwing a code do i still need to wire it in?

The knock occurs when there's detonation, due to the timing being too advanced. And the knock sensor doesn't actually retard the timing, the ECU does that with the help of the data collected from the knock sensor.

well it has been running and i have moved it to the front of my house and back.. still waiting for my header and a throttle cable to show up.. other then that its 100% ready to go..

Yes, if your engine has a knock sensor, it's a good idea to wire it in or use the appropriate ECU.

You do need to wire it in if you want the motor to last as long as possible and run right..

wire it..!! i didnt have mine wired and it retarded my timing.. car ran fine for a while.. but then it started messing up.. threw timing off.. think my ecu went into limp mode.. no good.. and it burned more gas after that.. lol.. wire it.. easy and bettr for the long run..

im using the ecu that came with it from japan. its the correct one. and ill wire it in and pin it into the ecu tommorrow for sure.
