Default Knock Sensor please help

ok well i got a 00 Si with a 94 jdm gsr in it head was converted to obd2 sensors im running the si tranny. My problem is i get code 23 Knock Sensor. I have 2 questions

1) i know the knock sensor detects vibration in the motor and then retards the timing, but what can cause the vibration?

2) should i have the timing checked (cuz i don't have a timing light) and make sure its on could this be a possiblity for it knocking??

FYI I replaced the knock sensor wit a brand new 94 gsr knock sensor from the acura dealership and brand new harness from honda dealership 2000 si harness....and 2000 si ecu

please help

Another possible cause is that you aren't using insulated wire for the knock sensor -> ECU.
I'm getting the same problem with code 23 comming on after hitting around >4500 and I'm positive its because of all the noise and electrical interference between the sensor and its ecu connection. Look into that, its been a documented problem.

Detonation, when the knock sensor senses that, it retards the timing in hope of stop it.

I think that you should check the timing with a timing light cause too much or too little will cause Detonation.

Also, check the wire and connect to the knock sensor. It will not (to my knowledge) throw a code for some thing that will cause it to tell the ECU to retard the timing.
