JDM swap ?'s octane? check engine light? seafoam? Please help!
Ok, i just got my car back from Prospeed in Aneheim. Brain did a great job, everything looks real clean. Just have a few ?'s. I want to try out that "seafoam" **** that I found out about by "search" but autozone, pepboys, and kragen all looked at me like I was stupid when I asked if they had it. Is that the brand?? Any help with where they carry it?
Next I want to know what octane is best to run with a JDM h22? I'm assuming premium since the cars in Japan have like 100 octane from what I've heard. My friend with a JDM b16 in his CRX says 91 is the way to go. And a lil octane booster doesn't hurt every now and then.
Last I'm trying to figure out why my check engine llight randomly goes on and off about 10 minutes after running the car? It's running strong and everything, only problem is the AC belt is a little loose, but Brian ordered me another one. Kinda squeals every now and then, but it's fine when lubed. Could this be the reason for the light? It's running a P13 BTW.
Thanks, and any other advice is welcome

i dont know about this seafoam thing but as far as octane goes... if the motor is stock (no milling ect) 91 is the way to go . we have an inground dynojet dyno and just for fun we have ran different fuels on the same car to test. 91 was the best (unless you want to give the car 21+deg of ignition timing ) then you will need to step it up but your timing on a stock h22 should be 16-19btc. oh ya by the way we have found that most octane boosters actually cause cars to ping (detonate)more than without the booster.(weird)

Do not use seafoam, it is not a good product for honda's it will mess up your sensors. A product made by BM called "44K" is the best. It is about 30 bucks for the bottle but it's well worth it. I used it on my ls motor with 95k on it and it runs so much better now, best 30 bucks i've spent. You can probably get it at an import parts shop in your town.

Re: (seecretninja)
the CEL you're getting is probably from the EGR sensor....got my swap done at Prospeed as well and that's what Brian told me would happen every now and then. Loved the swap. But I've been waiting 2 months for my front brakes to come in.
