Default intermediate shaft bolt question..

Are all these bolts the same? I went to three different honda dealerships and NONE of them had it.. they said it'll take a week to get!??????
anyway I asked them if any bolt would work and they said sure.. so they gave me the size.. 10X1.25 metric.. so I went to the home depot and got three 10x1.25 metric bolts and put them on.. they threaded but for some reason it wouldnt complete the thread as in i would keep turning and it wouldnt get snug to the point that I could torque them.. they just keep turning but the bolts stayed in place.. drove for about two days and i heard a loud noise from my engine and realized one of the bolts had flown off.. I guess just any bolt to spec isn't going to work? anyone NOT use honda bolts and still do ok with this?

hey man

ya the intermediate shaft bolt are specific bolts, the thread pattern is the same as the normal honda 14mm (might me the 12mm I'm a little tired right now sorry) but you don't want to use the regular bolts. The Itermediate shaft bolts are only threaded twords the end, and the rest is a thicker smooth shaft (that just sounds wrong). I would say that you could get away with using the wrong bolts for 10 days, but i would push it much longer than that. just order the bolts from honda and put them in asap.

peace

I heard the three bolts that go into the block aren't the same. As in two are shorter in length compared to the one that bolts in the middle? does anyone have a part number for these bolts? or any way to tell the difference? i called honda and they're telling me the bolts are all the same length.. but these are the same people that told me to get it from home depot!!! so i guess I won't trust them... they also cost 8 dollars a piece

2 are the same size, one is longer and dosent have the smoothed base portion.

On b-series they are all the same, Sometimes since they are $8 a piece people only run two and a normal 14mm bolt for the third. The reason not to use normal bolts for all three is that the built in Dowels on the special bolts align the intermediate shaft.
