Default insurance for your hybrid

Anyone here have any recomendations on a good company go with that will actually insure a hybrid with a good appraisal? I've had a hell of a time finding an insurance company will that support my car being that it is almost completely different from stock. I can get the car appraised to prove the value but I still need to find an insurance company will to carry me. I'm sure there are others here that have been through this, anyone have any suggestions? Or should I just wing it and tell my insurance company my car is stock and just deal with driving a car that's underinsured?
