OT: Car insurance for your boosted car........
I did a search and didnt find much on it. What are most of you doing for insuring a boosted car on the streets. USAA is my current insurance co and they dont want anything to do with me because the car is too heavily modified. I know I could not tell them and try and provide receipts....but most of the claims people I talk to tell me that not telling them and attempting to show receipts doenst cut it. I have tried a few places....K&K, Wisenberg, and Heacock INs co.....but they say either non street car or over age 30. I dunno. Thanks for your help.

Why would you even want to let your insurance know your car has all these performance mod?
My personal opinion would be to insure it as a stock car and if something happens then the insurance company will pay me what it's worth stock, usually more than if it was modded. Not to mention you don't have to pay that extra money when you are insuring more.

Parts value = 20k
I need that coverage. I dont want to have to worry about theft, vandalism, etc.

hey my car was broken into and my insurance company only gave me the $$ for the car's worth if it were on a dealer's lot. oh yeah and i had about hmm...a good 7k in performance and audio mods and they only gave me half price oh things that were PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED. meaning that i had to have reciepts showing they were installed. what rip offs!!

I'd get everything insured since import theft is on the rise. You might pay more now, but if and when something happens to the car, you'll be thankful.

wow, i'm really surprised your insurance company's won't take care of things. I've had my car broken into 3 times last year and they paid for everything, i was just left with my deductable. I pay about 200 a month and i've never told them what was put on the car before hand, just showed receipts. But if you all live in a high theft area with all the money you've dumped into your cars, tell them and if you have to pay a hundred or two more a year, it's worth it.

I've never had any problem just providing receipts for stolen/damaged items except for one time...the first time my car was broken into. The insurance company gave me a tip to make things smoother the next go around, however. Take pictures, actual photos (not digi-pics) of all of your mods/parts. Take pictures with the parts next to the receipt, take detailed pictures of the parts, take pictures with the parts on the cars and file all the pictures and matching receipts together as proof of ownership. Lots of work, kinda, but worth it. I beleve most of us invest more in our cars than the cost of a couple rolls of film

panny you can take a seperate policy out for the additional mods. Most companies insure up to 3k for free, after that, additional coverage is needed - and usually its not very expensive.
