i've never known anybody to tell their insurance company, god only knows what they would do to you.... what i would try doing is taking out property insurance on the motor itself

Thats what I'm going to do. Basically i'm getting a rider on top of my basic policy for the declared value of everything I have put on. My insurance agent is a good freind of mine and he worked out all the details.

most insurance policies will only replace the parts for a stock vehicle. If you have done stereo equip stuff you can usually get an amended policy to cover the extra stuff....,.Here's the kicker...you put a different engine in the car....They want to know why....then it could end up a stink about racing and then might change or cancel your policy....
I work for insurance company... and my car has liability only and is not my daily driver b/c even the ins co is cracking down on this stuff!
