Default hybrid insurance

what do you do with insurance when you put 7 grand worth of engine parts into a car worth about 5 grand and 130k on the chasis

do you tell the insur co that you have a new engine in it and they raise your insurance

do they raise it alot, give me some examples of what you pay

i heard of a 5000 dollar custom equipment thing, but im not sure

i just want to be coverd if i wreck my car

Call your insurance agent and ask for a quote. I believe it was like $10 / 6 months per $1000 of additional coverage - so its really not that big of a deal. This was with Progressive...

The $10 per $1000 for every six months i believe caps at $10 of additional insurance and covers all performance parts... at least thats what progressive said... but then again... i dont like them so i'm out hunting for a new company and i could be wrong.

I dunno how much it is but I am going to get it as soon as can get my swap in my car! when I had my 94DX w/GSR swap stolen I got it pretty damn good from my insurance company!
GSr with 30K , had the car for 1month, paid 7G's for it originally and put 3G's into it while I had it =======> means jack **** to an insurance company and they gave me 2800 for it after telling me I was a moron for paying so much for a car with that many miles!
I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!
needless to say I am no longer with them

I have State Farm and they don't raise your rates. Take some good pictures of all of your mods, make copies of all your reciepts, and take them to your insurance agent and politely ask him to keep them in your file. I have had two cars stolen, and with both I came out with ok settlements. Of course because of depreciation you will not get all of your money back, but when you are honest and they have proof of everything an knowledge of the car before it even gets broken into etc, they will be more leniant with your settlement. Just be firm with them and keep arguing over stuff trying to get more money out of it. Remember, you pay them monthly to insure a car that might only get stolen once in a six year period.
175 x 12 x 6 is a pretty good figure and if you invested you money to insure it then they better give you a decent settlement.

I'm with Progressive. I'll find out if this is true in my state. I'm in the process of going Hybrid. I just can't see the insurance only going up a few bucks when you are more than doubling the power

I said it wrong, I believe it was $10 / MONTH for an extra $1000 of coverage - upto an additional $4000 in coverage before needing an adjuster or whatever look at it to determine the cars value.

I only pay $48 a month now. It's already paid until the end of the year. I'm just going to invst in an alarm and be smart about where I leave my car.....

Being smart about where / when you leave your car does though
The area(s) I go are not that bad. I'm going to pass on the extra $40+ a month.

Just call your insurance agent and ask for a quote - who knows maybe im wrong on it being $10 more a month / $1000 of coverage - I havent looked in a long time. And unfortunately the world isnt a place where you can always park your car in the right places.... and that one time you have to park it in a bad area, and you think "its ok ill just be gone for 10 minutes" and you come out and your cars stolen, your going to wish you had that extra $4000 in coverage
