how to prepare cylinders before start up after a swap.
When you buy an engine swap, that engine hasent been started for a LONG time and who knows the condition of the cylinders. i would think the cylinders would get dried up and on the first start up there could be some major scrape-adge between the rings and the walls, or there could be debris built up in the cylinders that could cause scratches. is this true? how do you prep the cylinders so that on the first start up you dont **** up your cylinder walls?

i saw it on tv where they restore old cars they say to start motors like these at junk yards you take the plugs out and spray some wd40 down there and let it soak a bit then you crank it with the sparkplugs out. then start it. dunno how well this works. i never did it maybe i'll try on my old motor its siezed up right now from sitting outside for so long

Re: (2hondafreaks)
wd-40 is suppose to seat rings on a new motor but anyway either the wd-40 or the oil should work due to the fact that they will gather around the rings to form some sort of compression. i helped a friend of mine we put a junk yard motor in a teg and it took an hour to get it started (we used oil in the cylinder to get it started) it smoked quite a bit but we let it run for an hour and it quite.......good luck
