Waiting for the right side trailing arm, when it comes in I'm going to shorten the arms, in the picture below is a pencil line where I intend to shorten the arms. I'll reweld them together and box in that section, I'll post pictures naturally of the whole process when it's done.

Received the Alternator/front motormount bracket today, testfitted and mounted it together with a new NSX alternator and a cleaned bracket.

Also received the adapter plate machined by Kennedy Egineered Products!! damn the plate and flywheel are truly a work of art! Compliments to them. Visited them in person in Palmdale CA when I was over there in November for my work, and was really impressed by what they make/do......naturally ordered the plate etc but was happy I went there, it was never done before apparently...
So all went well and received it today.... will testfit it tomorrow and begin fabrication of the side motormounts..

Pictures for now..

Started fitting the adapterplate, first not to damage anything, I retapped all the threads:

Then inserted the alignment pegs:

And then the plate went over it like a glove:

Fitted the flywheel roughly, since there is no crank to mount it to:

And just to try and fit the plate to a new nsx flywheel side transmission casing, fits like a glove, here you can see the plate is machined for the nsx since aligning it with the legend block gives a few minor differences and on the transmission housing, it is a solid match...

what are your plans for the nsx engine or is it going in stock?

It will remain stock until I have this thing worked out and driving properly, then I will build it into a 3,8L High compression N/A -ITB monster and most likely replace the porsche transmission with a Sadev 6 speed sequential.

But until this thing is fully built and driving and handling properly I will go for a stock C30 with the G50 tranny...

Since I like my workshop and parts to be clean, I decided to give the transmission a go...

Started today with the modification of the rear trailing arms, they needed to be shortened. First started by determining how much they should be shortened. The easiest way that came to mind was by using a weighted rope that was in the normal trailing arms center position. Any other way of measuring gave me the trouble of finding a straight line to determine the amount. The trainling arms have virtually no flat surfaces and there is too much difference between the awd arms and the stock arms. So the old fashioned rope it is!
first mounted a stock civic trailing arm and determined dead center, marked and fastened the rope. Then mounted the awd trailing arm and measured at the bearing center, the upper rear control arm and the lower rear control arm and found out that 36mm was the correct amount to be removed.
Then figured out the best position to cut the arm and went ahead. tacked it back together and rechecked...looked ok to me. welded it fully and then started to box in the rear part of the arm. The front gets it's treatment later this week, still not fully sure how I'm going to do the front...it still needs some thought....

wow good thinking on getting the measurements, I was planning on mocking up a jig for the arms but your method is far easier

Please excuse my ignorance, but assuming the welds holding the 2 parts of the newly shortened trailing arm are of good quality and penetration, would this not be sufficiently strong to replicate the strength of the OEM stamped uncut arm, or did you feel the need to increase the strength/stiffness of the OEM arm?

Jaques

It most likely will be sufficient but I am a control freak when it comes to things being strong enough, I tend to over design things in a way it will hold just about anything. The weight penalty is negligable and hence I thought....why the hell not make them bomb proof...

The way you've boxed in the control arm, strength will definitely not be an issue.

That's what I'm hoping for, since I'm going to use this car for racing......It can't be strong enough........the little weight in steel is negligable, strength is what I need....
