Help with pin on shift linkage
alright, i bought the pin punch to "try" and remove it but it won't budge. am i supposed to puch this thing up or down? or does it matter? are there any other tricks to this? btw, i'm just dropping a zc into a 90 crx
use the bolt off of the ac mount. it fits perfectly and is long enough that you don't smash your fingers when youre hammering on the pin. just keep hammering, it will move slowly but surely.
Your two most favorite friends during this process are:
1.) Liquid Wrench
2.) Hammer
Just use a bolt that fits well against the pin, make sure you remove the metal C-clamp, and its easiest to hammer "up" when under the car (doesn't matter which way the pin comes out).
This is probably THE bitchiest part of removing engines... Just hammer and spray, hammer and spray - Keep applying the liquid wrench - that damn pin will eventually pop out...
Good Luck

just had the same prob. no it does not matter which way you hit it. what i did was go to sears and buy a big ***** of a hammer. a 3lb one. just use your punch and whack it. it'll come out i, assure you. r u working under the car or is the engine out. r u trying to take your engine out? cuz i just took the engine out with the linkage still attached to the tranny then worked on the pin when the engine was outta the car.
Hey I got a question. Sry to bomb the topic but I need the pin in a shift linkage for 94 up GSR. Got my swap 2day and need that ******' pin. Anyone know of anywhere I could find this bad boy.

patience. i thought it would never come out,,, i was about to give up and drill that peice... but seriously sit there and bang it for about an hour and if it doesnt come out then, then you have a reason to go crazy
Ahhhh the bitch pin. Our favorite part of the engine
The bolt method works but I prefer a 1/4" flat end punch and a 5 pound sledge.
and lots of liquid wrench, PB Blaster or any penetrating oil.
Theres a reason we call it the "Bitch" pin
