Default Help! Mid shaft removal question.

I have a 88 CRX with a B16a out of a USDM '94 DelSol and a JDM cable trans, I'm trying to remove the trans to install a Quaife. I got the left and right axles out but I'm having a hard time with the mid shaft. Do I need to remove the mid shaft bracket on the left side or will the mid shaft slide out without removal of the bracket?

Thanks for the help.
Craig

Unbolt the three 14 mm bolts holding the intermediate shaft to the back of the block. Then pry out the intermediate shaft and wallah. Good luck.

the intermediate shaft should slide in and out smoothly. it has no c clip to keep it locked in the tranny. it should come right out with the 3 bolts removed. if its stuck, then something is wrong lol

thanks for the help.

So, I do have to remove the mount on the left side, damn. I was not looking forward to that. I've got a JR SC and the alternator covers the top bolt. Well, I guess I've got more work to do.

Thanks.

Yeah, you're gonna need to take that bracket off, thats the only thing holding it into the transmission. When i pulled mine off, i loosened the alternator, took one bolt off the alternator bracket and just leaned it out of the way.

That gave me enough room to get to the top bracket bolt.

well, I got the trans off without taking the mid shaft bracket off. It was a bitch but with two floor jacks and a friend to help, I was able to tilt the engine down enough to work the trans off the output shaft and mid shaft at the same time.

crank pully was hitting the frame rail, SC pully was hitting the master cylinder, block was hitting the rear engine mount, SC inlet was hitting the rear engine mount and the trans was hitting the rear cross member and frame rail. what a bitch!

Now for the Quaife!

I think my 1:30 flat lap times at Streets of Willow should drop to about 1:27sec. and that is using the full track with the bowl.. I used to have so much wheel spin from mid corner on, it sucked.
