<<HELP>>97 EK Hatch engine harness
I'm doing a GSR swap into a 97 hatch EK...I have a P72 obd2a ecu..here is the pic..
Here is the ECU from the pin side, its obd2a..
I bought an engine harness from a guy, he said it was an obd2a harness..But the plugs dont go in the ECU..Here is a pic of the plugs.
.
The small one plugs in, the blue one does too, but the last one does not..The ECU has 13 pins from side to side and the harness plug has 10 pins..Here is a pic of the plug that does not work..
Did they sell me the wrong harness, please someone HELP and tell me what to do...Doug

Sorry I have been out of town just came back today, but my shop and house was broken into by some ********. I have an obd2a harness in my wife car in a box; she did not mail it off. I will be mailing myself.

obd2a and obd2b share two of the same plugs.... obd2a has the small plug..like my 98 ex coupe has... which is only on the obd2a plugs... an obd2b harness wont have it so thats definitely not gonna work....
obd2b has the third plug as a part of the dash harness like my 00 dx hatch has....
i am the guy who sent him his harness and am refunding the money as we speak.. but if he orders another obd2a harness he is gonna end up with the same thing
not to be a jerk or anything but here is a thread on another forum where i was told it was an obda harness.

heres a picture also to add to this thread to end the confusion......
in order from top to bottom.
obd2b
obd2a
obd1
obd0
notice how the obd2b ecu has no where for the cute little plug to go... if this were in fact an obd2b harness there would be NO little plug....

Re: (Zach-R)
to help delete confusion, here's some images of an OBD2a & OBD2b civic engine wire harnesses:
As already mentioned, the OBD2a engine wire harness has all 3 ecu plugs integrated into the harness.
The OBD2b engine harness has only plugs A + B integrated into it, plug C is part of the underdash harness.
In this image:
The "A" plug looks like it's been tampered with and/or damaged.
How I can tell is by looking in the lower right section of the plug; the pins look unseated and there's no grey plastic around these pins (broken plug).
Also, the top row is 8 pins across which is the same amount of pins you'd find on an OBD2b "B" plug.
So, someone swapped out the OBD2a A plug in favor for an OBD2b B plug.
Just my observations...

Re: (Zach-R)
Wow, lot of mis-info in this thread.
First, OBD2A and OBD22B ecus have the same female plug connector on them NO DIFFERENCE. All 4 plugs are identical, just the wires are moved around.
OBD2A Plug B = Auto Tranny Crap
OBD2B Plug D = Auto Tranny Crap
See the difference? That left over plug you have is a B plug that you are trying to fit into the A spot.
Now in this case, one of two things happened here.
1) The harness was from an automatic civic and plug A is missing.
2) Plug A was replaced with a B plug for what ever retarded *** reason.
It is number 2 simply because that B plug looks messed with and has some of the A wires in it.
Also, Katman, that picture is wrong. The OBD2B pic says plug C is not shown. That is not correct. Plug A is actually not shown. Plug C is the blue one.
