Re: head tapping clacking noise (uncle)
this was a motor that was already running in the car.. 98 b18b block and i slapped the b16 head on it. im thinking its the lost motion assemblys or i just need to drive it more so it can lubricate itself or something. cant really drive it much though cause it gives me headaches and makes me dizzy from the fumes of it running rich https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1336976

Most likely its your lost motion assembly. I had the same problem for a while where the noise would come on and off. I opened up the valve cover and pushed down on one of the lma's and it would get stuck on its way up. Then i tried another and found out that they were all bad. A way to test is to push them down and see if they go back up without sticking. I replaced them and now i have a quiet idle.
