Default noise coming from head.

i just put a z6 head onto my b8 block and it ran great for a while (4 hours) no noise reved great etc. then it started to make a tapping noise at idle. it only makes this noise below 1300 rpm. anyone know what it could be? i'm thinking rocker arm but i could be wrong.

check your valve adjustment, but it could be anything.

yeah i still have to do that tomorrow. but i still would think that it should have started to make that noise right away if the valve adjustment was out of spec. or maybe just the nut on the adjuster screw came loose and it went out of spec?

Not really.. as the metal get hot then it starts to expand so if your off then you will hear it when the head gets hot.

I would do a valve adjustment make sure when you do it the engine is Cold.. so the best time is in the morning or after you park it for at least 4 hours in a cool day

I don't know much about SOHC's but maybe it could be your LMAs? My B16 had a similar problem and it was the LMAs.

Well mine got louder over a few days time so I had them replaced and the sound went away...
I am not sure if it will cause damage to the engine components but I didn't want to drive my car like that.
