Hard to get to timing belt EG+H22?
I want to go ahead and get my car on the road, but I'm going to replace tha auto tensioner soon just to be safe.
I've got about a week to wait on that, but I was wondering if it's something that can be done with the engine in the car?
or is it impossible to get to?

hahahaha...not a chance! id say either wait before putting the engine in or pull once you plan to replace....since your only waiting a week i wouldnt do the ladder!

i just did my timing belt a week ago(engine in the car), not that difficult, almost like changing on the regular d-series motor. I could've done it when I 1st got my engine shipped in but i didnt have the auto-tensioner stopper tool. Theres alot of room between the timing covers and the side rail. But again , im using hasport mount so i dont know if the others(hcp,place-racing) pulls the engine more to the driver side.

There is plenty of room to do any timing adjustments in my EG. I did have to take off the drivers side mount and just keep the engine stable with a jack but then if that is hard then you probably shouldnt be doing a timing belt change..

I got a new tensioner from the dealer today..and i was VERY happy to see that it comes with the holder ON it. So it's already compressed. When i bolt it in place, I just pull off the holder and bam.
I'm pretty stoked cuz it's gonna be a piece of cake now

You could try putting a floor jack under tranny, taking out the bolt in the passenger side motor mount and lowering the tranny side of the motor. (not sure about the axles) this will tilt the motor down and lean the timing belt side back and MIGHT make it easier to get too while in the car. should do it with the motor out of the car though. that is easiest.
