H22 with M2B4 into EG hitting
i currently have a h22 with an m2a4 tranny in my 93 civic using egh2 mounts. i managed to get an m2b4 tranny for cheap but when i went to swap them over i found that the tranny now contacts the bottom of the frame rail.
i did some searching on here and found some people saying that the m2b4 casing is larger that the m2a4 casing. this would explain why it now hits the framerail. can anyone confirm? i no longer have my m2a4 to measure the difference
anyway, for the guys that have had to notch/dent their frame rails to fit the h22 in their civic can you post up pics/tips of how you went about it. i realise i could just take a hammer to it but im interested in the techniques that others have used.
thanks

I believe its only the Diff area of the trans is larger, far as midshaft and axle lenths are concern wouldn't think there would be a difference

I had the same problem, and I dented it in 2 places also. You can see where I drew on the bottom of the frame rail with a sharpie to mark the area where I needed to massage.

Re: H22 with M2B4 into EG hitting
my friend had a h22 eg with the m2y4 tranny, we used the hasport mounts where it has the mount that bolts up underneath the framerail to the tq mounts... not the solid one like above, it had a polyurithane mount...
it fit just fine we had no problems with his, the only problem i had was putting the skunk2 intake manifold he had on the motor, back on the motor once it was in the car, that was a bitch, everything else fit just fine had no problems with anything

Re: H22 with M2B4 into EG hitting
my h22 sits pretty far back, i'll post pictures of it, but there's probably less than an inch between the tps and firewall. There was plenty of room up front though, so the stock h22 A/C fit without any modification. I just removed the stock puller fan. I plan to run a slim pusher in front of it instead.

Re: H22 with M2B4 into EG hitting
yeah thats exactly what mine looks like.
the yellow arrow is the part on the gearbox that is now making contact with the frame rail. there is an oil passage in that bulge so you can't shave it down, which means the frame rail has to be modified to clear.
the blue arrow shows the area that needs to be modified to give clearance for that part of the gearbox.
how much did you have to cut/hammer that part in to give adequete clearance?
also how did you go about doing it?
have you got any other pics of how yours looked after you made the clearance on the frame rail?

Either notch your frame with a grinder, or buy the Avid (or HCP) mounts, which I have also used once. They move the engine & tranny over considerably and allow you to run DA axles. Only problem is that with the Avids you can kiss your power steering goodbye
