Default GSR FUEL PRESSURE

USDM GSR engine, stage 3 cams (crower), Stage 3 P&P heads, STR fuel rail, AEM FPR, 255lph fuel pump, I/H/E, Cam timing set to stock, etc... it's got a couple mods... stock injectors. I was wondering what the fuel pressure should be set at! The fuel pressure is currently 59 PSI WOP! Lol... which is pretty high, I don't know what to say about that.. but anyways.. What do you think it should be? (it pours smoke out the back in high RPMS.. and it drives sluggishly up in vtec.)

Thanks!
Anthony

59 psi? dayam that is high. with that kind of head work and such, it's hard to say. I would mainly get it tuned, but I would probably put it about 40 PSI at idle, with new spark plugs, run around the engine for a bit. And look at the spark plugs. If it's drenched in fuel, then you are still running very rich.

If it's brown, then you are running stoich, if it has white build up on it, then you`re running lean.

I would get a tune up though with those mods

We're pulling the timing belt off on Friday.. Apparently whoever put the crower cam gears on put the belt on incorrectly! It's around 4-5 notches off TDC. Bastards!

What do you think I should set the CAM TIMING to? It was set to 4 advanced intake and 3 degrees retarded exhaust... We set it back to stock though.. Got any input?

I would put it all at TDC first with the cams set at 0°

You have clayed the motor too correct? I am not sure if the crower stage 3's will clear the factory pistons, just something to be very aware about.

Hotwheelz does have crower stage 3's as well.

What do you mean the cams will not clear the factory pistons? I don't understand what you mean.

He means that if you go too aggressive ont he cam gear settings, the valves could come in contact with the top of the pistons. To check if you have enough piston to valve clearance with a given cam gear setting, you put a small strip of clay on the top of the piston and turn the engine over by hand and measure the squashed clay to get your clearance.

Thanks for backing me up man. Didn't see this thread until now.

He is exactly right

It's just a 'safe precaution' when installing cams and combing agressive cams with the bottom end to see how safe you care with valve clearance and if you need to make the valve reliefs on the pistons bigger or not.
