Default Correcting Fuel Pressure?!?!?!

I just put some cams in my LS motor, i got a valve adjust ment and switched to a GSR fuel pump. When the guy did the Valve adjustment(before the fuel pump) he said i was running pretty rich. My car sputters a little bit in low RPM and then picks up around about 2500. I was wondering if i could buy a Fuel Pressure Regulator for my stock fuel rail to turn the fuel pressure down a Tid Bit and if you guys think that would correct the problem. Thanks homies!

you shouldn't need to adjust your fuel pressure down since you're still running the stock fuel rail and regulator. In this case, it doesn't matter what fuel pump you put in the car because the the stock fuel pressure regulator will just divert any extra fuel back to the tank. It should still be stock pressure so if anything you'd normally need to increase it a little to compensate for the extra air the cams are bringing in.

What type of cams are you running? do you have adjustable cam gears? often times they can help smooth out the idle problems or rich problem. Some dyno tuning time would be very helpful as well.

I got my cams reground. They seem pretty good so far. I don't have cam gears, and shortly i eill be running uberdata, so tuning is on the way. Why would i be running so rich, if the stock fuel rail woul d let me run rich?

when you change the cam lobe profiles, you change the way the cylinders fill and empty. This can cause mixture issues where you'll get a rich or lean reading and the main reason why people use cam gears to help "tune" their cams. You'll find when you get your Uberdata system put in and tuned properly that if you alter your cam gear settings at all, it'll throw your fuel curve out of wack and you'll have to retune for the new settings. This is the easiest explaination I can give you without getting super technical but modifications often have a "domino" effect on a car. Make a change somewhere and you'l need to change something else to make everything work optimally. Once you get your Uberdata installed and tuned you'll be fine.

That's normal. With cams your vacume gets reduced pretty good, so your idle is going to be ****, sometimes you need to turn it up pretty high. Also you will loose bottom end torque, and pick up some good HP at top end. That's how cams work.
