Default GSR ECU running a B16A2??

Does anyone know at what RPM's VTEC is supposed to engage at with a 1997 GSR ECU? I bought a full B16A2 swap from some kid and he said the ECU was from a '97 GSR. VTEC is engaging right at 4500 RPM. Seems a bit early and I don't know how bad that is for the engine because the Si ECU engages VTEC between 5100-5500 rpms. Someone please help me out here cause I don't want to destroy the engine. Thanks.

it's correct..the v-tec will engage @4500...kinda low for the the b16a motor....going @ 80mph...you are hitting v-tec already. You can get a v-tec controller...and set it at 5500. or get a chipped ecu...with the conversion harness.

some people actually like it @4500.

thanks for the help. I was afraid that I may be damaging the engine with such a low engagement. I'm saving up for a hondata stage 4 so I'll just leave it how it is until I get that.

aren't you getting a code for the secondary butterflies?

GSR ecu's doesn't throw a code for 2ndary butterflies or the IAB sensor.

nope it doesn't hurt the engine at all, but it hurts the powerband a little bit. Once you bump up the vtec crossover point that issue will be resolved though.

Just checked the CEL codes the engine is throwing today. I am definately feeling a serious loss of power. Threw codes 41, 65 and 74. 41 and 65 are the primary and secondary O2 sensors, a malfunction in the circuit. I don't have an O2 sensor in the front. Will prob buy one tomorrow but 74 is a misfire in cylinder 4. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this up. I hate O2 sensors and want to bypass them if i can because the back one that is hooked up correctly is getting a bad reading too. That sensor is for a 98 ex and the cat is also... don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Also, yesterday, the SRS light went on and my horn doesn't work. Any ideas on that. I didn't mess around under the hood since I dropped the engine in.

Thanks for the help.

Also, forgot about my idle.... when i come to a stop, the engine's rpms drop to about 1000 then keep jumping to 1500 and other times going from 1500-2200. Any ideas?

Also, the 96 GSR ECU I have doesn't throw codes for not having a fuel tank pressure sensor.

Another GSR ecu that was supposed to be from a 96 GSR did. I am thinking it may have been a 97 or 98 ECU.
