Got a Question for you Si drivers or Ek swapped people
We put the B16 in my 96 hatch yesterday. The wire harness plugged up to the ecu..The car started and sounded smooth..The problem is The ecu had 3 spots for plugs to plug up, but the wire harness off the engine only had 2? Does anyone know what the third plug is for? also my Tachometer on my stock gauge cluster isn't workin now..but the fuel and temp works???? Please help if you can..
P.s. Ecu and wire harness is both off a 99 Si wire harness is complete from motor to ecu hasnt been cut.

You are using the wrong wiring harness. You can only use the 99-00 si harness on 99-00 civics. You need to either use your stock dx harness or use an ex harness from a 96-98. Reason why is because Honda changed the plugs around on their obd2 cars in 99. On 99-00 civics, that third plug is located on the interior harness of the civic and the green plug on si harness plugs into the interior harness.

No, you cant. Unless you are really good at wiring, have the wiring schematics and have tons of patience. You will still need that third plug.

since your tach isnt working your ecu might not be getting any info from your dist. or something else on your motor....might mess some stuff up! just get the right harness.
good luck!
