99-00 Si harness cut at ECU options?
Hello,
Trying to help a customer out with his car. The car is a 99 Civic Si that was stolen and for some reason or another the thieves cut one plug off his ECU when they stole it (see pic below). He is now putting a B18C in the vehicle and wants to know his best option for restoring the harness back to work. He will be using a OBD2A ECU so he is purchasing a OBD2B to 2A harness adaptor so he needs the missing plug or can he use a complete OBD2 GSR harness for the engine and harness to the ECU?

just see if he can get what he lost from a junkyard. make it the way it was. unless you wanted to cut the wires that go to that plug on the jumper and wire them together. kind of a hack job though.

You have 2 options
1. (the ghetto way) get the missing plug and solder the wires together
2. (The proper way) replace the entire harness behind the dahs
I also buy auctions cars and have dealt with cut dash harness' and everytime I've just replaced the dash harness. I'm a stong believer of "do it right the first time". Theres alot of wires that are the same color and you could easily mix them up on accident. The first car I had this issue with I actually tried to do it the "ghetto way" and had to wires mixed up and vtec wouldnt crack

Im gonna tell u right now dude, i did it the retarted way and tried to match up wires even though some were the same color , ex: white 1 , white 3 , white 4 etc. And i burned my Ecu, It ended up costing more that way than just replacing the harness and plugging it in.

resolder the plugs back on, really not that hard if u have the honda service manual or u can just get a new engine harness. its not like the 92-95 where u need to replace the entire underdash harness, u just need a new engine harness

Just get a plug from the junkyard with all of the pins and put the pins onto the wire that is left and just place the pins back into the plug.. You can also just get new pins.. Recrimp them onto the ends of the wires then repin the plug..

ive never looked at buying one...because i would never spend the money...especially when a chipped p28 ecu with a tune is also fully tunable. (and hell of a lot cheaper)..not to mention the fact that neither of these will solve his problem. he needs the plugs that actually go into the ecu before he can decide which ecu he wants.
