Frankenstein Engine - VTEC solenoid
I have a frankenstien engine (CRV block with a Type-R head) installed in a 2001 Integra. The engine is gettting fuel cut-off at about 5000 rpm. I have been told that the VTEC solenoid is not plugged in because the wiring harness is missing this wire. I am looking for a way to 'hot wire' the VTEC solenoid.

Re: Frankenstein Engine - VTEC solenoid (WalkEX99)
Ideally, you just add the wires to the wiring harness and let the ECU control it.
Otherwise, you can connect an RPM triggered switch to it... like a Fields VTEC controller, a MSD rpm switch ... maybe a VAFC can do this?
What you should start with is positing in the hybrid forum rather than rr/autocross.

Re: Frankenstein Engine - VTEC solenoid (JeffS)
your problem isnt with the solenoid
your CEL is on isnt it? yes it is. because you are running in limp mode.
you need to fix the checl engine light before you jump to vtec. the solenoid not working wont cause the fuel cut at 5000. its somthing more serious.

Pull the code and retreive what it's telling you.
