Euro / JDM ITR B18C + Gearbox on a 95 B16A2 Civic
Well, to cut a long story short, i blew my EG9's B16A2 engine (no one knows why, it was all stock).
The solution was to buy a new engine.
I bought a B18C with gearbox from a trashed ITR. No Alternator, Distributor, Starter and ThrotleBody.
Once the motor is not yet in the car, i'm in the process of putting up some stuff i had here for the B16A2.
I'm talking of a JUN3 cams with JUN valvesprings and retainers, and a SPOON 2 layer headgasket (i thing raises the compression by 0.2 or 0.3).
With the 2 motors side by side in the floor. I started to find the differences.
Here is what i found:
1 - The engine harness is different, DC2 OBD2 vs EG9 OBD1 DUHHHHHH
2 - B18C have a little sensor right above the oil filter that B16 doesn't. I think is the Knock sensor
3 - the plugs in the injectors, alternator, distributor are different
4 - The B16A2 Vtec solenoid have 1 connector (green) more than the B18C, wich i think is the Oil Pressure switch.
Conclusions:
Once i need to use my alternator, distributor, starter, i think i better use the B16 engine harness. This makes me changing the injectors plugs and the green vtec plug would be out of use and problably give me a ECU error.
I will use my P30 ECU wich already have a ITR with JUN3 program on it
the questions:
1 - it's better to use the B16A2 vtec solenoid or use a bypyss for the green plug ??
2 - using the ITR program on the P30, do i still need to plug the green plug??
3 - will the alternator, distributor work?? I'm not asking about fitting (no problem, already in place), i'm talking about voltages and power specs.
I would appreciate some more info you may find relevant for this to work
PS - USDM ITR engine have a vtec solenoid like my B16A2 one, with the green plug.
thanks,
Nuno

Re: Euro / JDM ITR B18C + Gearbox on a 95 B16A2 Civic (UnhuZ)
and i forgot
in my EG9 i already have the Euro ITR cluster working for about 6 months... only a few things are not working:
1 - The low fuel light;
2 - The open doors light, only the trunk light (EG only have a single sensor);
3 - SRS lights don't work (My EG don't have air-bags)
4 - The ABS light is working "backwards". It's on when it should be off, and it's off when should be on.
cya,
Nuno
