Default Engine year??

Is there a possible way of finding out wat year a JDM motor was made? i got a b16a, in my 1.6EL, juss swapped in, n i am extremly curious to kno if the asswipes, conned me, bout the motor bein a 1999 b16a....

the block has a date molded in to it, its round and if im not mistaken shows the month also and year of manufacture. it can be seen from the front in the K engine. ill look at the B and post where it is later.

yes it should be in the front (it is on the H) and normally you round up 1 year from whats printed to get the actual distribution year (or so im told).

tas cool, so since its on the block, it be near where the type of engine is stamped rite? I thought it be the VIN # on the motor....

It's located here:

In the picture it's reads 9/6 that means it's a 1996 & so on.......

i thought real JDM motors were missing that spot on the heads, i was told this so i am not positive, mine is usdm

should be there man...you might have to take the heatshield off the header to see the stamp...its on my jdm h22

Any other spot that you can check? On my JDM H22 it's not very clear I can't tell if it's a 98 or 96.
