Default Engine stand

Is there a way to mount a gsr block on a engine stand without using a crane/hoist?

Umm just botl the engine stand attachement to the tranny side of the block. lift the block into the air and slide it into the base? Pretty basic concept.

thats what i did. also if you take the head of the block, you should definitely be able to put it on the engine stand yourself.

If you've got some friends, just bolt the cradle to the motor, and then lift the motor up. Its even easier if you have a lift/cherry picker.

I notice you didn't say Long block,
