Just a thought. When i am picturing an adapter plate, I am thinking it would space out the tranny away from the block further than stock. Wouldn't that mean you would have to get some sort of aftermarket input shaft made so that it reaches all the way into the clutch disk? Or am i picturing it all wrong?

It can be done, but requires a custom flywheel.

No.

Because the D-series flywheel will not mate to the B-series crank. D-series use a 6 bolt pattern, B-series an 8. The B-series flywheel will not fit inside the D-series casing without some exstensive work.
