ctr in a 96 ek, idle problem
i finally got rid of the CEL because i didn't wire up the iacv properly (i know i'm retarded)...it ran fine for about a day and a half, then i floored it to see if everything was the same, now i have an idle problem again...problem is when i'm driving and i put it in neutral to stop at a red light the rpm's will only drop to 1500-2k, then it will hover there until i come to a COMPLETE stop, when i've stopped it finally drops down to normal...do i need to clean the screen on the iacv or is the throttle getting stuck for some reason?...i don't have any leaks of any kind nor do i have a CEL...i'm running a stock ctr motor with a itr ecu if that makes a difference...any help would be greatly appreciated.

could be, but i changed the fuel filter a few months ago when i did the swap, i don't think it would be time to change it again?...thanks for the suggestion i may have to try that sometime soon if i can't figure anything out.

mine did the same thing and it got so annoying, I blocked off the IACV altogether. ghetto I suppose, but problem solved nonetheless

how did the idle react after that? did it drop really low? before when i didn't have the iacv hooked-up correctly that really annoyed me and the car didn't run as well. just out of curiosity, how did you block it off? did you just unplug it or something like that.

Have you bleed your coolant???? Sounds like you may have some air in the system. Take the cap off right after you start the car and then bleed on the neck that goes intot head. Add coolant as needed..

i might be wrong but i always thought the itr/ctr were closed systems...so exactly where would you bleed it from? i don't see a valve coming from the head like on the gsr/ls?

Re: ctr in a 96 ek, idle problem (ghettols)
i think i got it this time...all i did was bleed the coolant system, adjust the throttle stop, and sprayed the hell out of the screen on the iac...i used a pep boys brand carb cleaner just so it wouldn't be so stong and condensed a little more...don't know which did it but my idle is back to normal ...thanks to all those who dropped their two cents.
