Default code 16??

last thing keeping my swap from starting.

the car cranks perfectly, there is fuel pressure, but when i checked the cel i get six shorts and 1 long so im guessing code 16?

if it was code 6 and 10 it wouldnt make sense since my coolant temp sensor is brand new...

any input?

this is a fresh built ls/vtec into a 97 ek using the d series injectors and stock ek harness.

it means that the ECU is not seeing the right electrical properties in the injector circuit.

either:
power to the injectors is not there or low compaired to battery voltage
connection to the injectors from the ECU is poor or not there
injectors are not the correct resistance (10-13 ohms)
or you have a chipped ECU that does not have the injector check hardware (JDM ECU) and the chip didn't disable the test.

thanks for the ideas man.

it is a chipped p06 ecu with a crom basemap for my motor.

i used the stock obd2 harness, so i put the tsock d series injectors in to match the harness, and they were working fine when i pulled the old motor out.

i guess ill measure the resistance tomorrow, and maybe wire in my obd1 injectors tomorrow...

the injectors should be the same, you may have a slightly damaged ECU.
Not a big deal if the car runs fine... simply check disable injector test circuit in Crome, reburn the chip and be done with it.

when you have a chance have the 35V electrolytic caps replaced. this problem should go away. This is becoming more and more of a common problem with OBD1 ECUs due to their age.
I'm asuming that the P06 has the VTEC parts added to run your setup.

well the point is the car wont start, i cranked it over then pulled th eplugs and they have no gas on them, and only faintly smell of gas.

i bought the ecu chipped and converted from a reputable tuner.

my chip burner should be here this week so ill see if the check circuit is disabled.

it could also be a power problem with the swap.
Unless something is seriously wrong, even with CEL16, it should start the car.
To rule out the ECU, if you have another OBD1 ECU try that, just to see if the car starts. Which one does not really matter as long as you don't run it longer than enough time to determine that the car runs.

we pulled off the injector plugs and checked for power during cranking and it is definetly there. i wired in my od1 plugs/injectors just because the resistance was a little different between obd2 and 1...checking if it starts shortly.

if not im friggin stumped

its gotta be ecu at this point everything else has been checked.

have you checked your main relay?
when it goes bad (very common problem with civics) it kills power to the injectors.
There are two relays in there, one powers the injectors and a few other engine sensors, the other relay powers the fuel pump.

it could also be a fuse. check all of them in the under dash fuse box as well as the under hood fuse box.
