chipped sleeve, check this
picked up this ls with 300k on it from a pick n pull.
i pulled the head and was dissapointed when i saw these marks on the coolant side of the sleeves, hopefully its usable.
im going to throw my gsr head on it and boost it so id like to know if its worthy of 275-300whp. any higher and id probably go for a different block.
anyway here are the pics.
only on the front of cylinders 2 and 3. damn!!

Re: chipped sleeve, check this (AJxr)
That is caused by running straight water for a period of time. The calcium builds up and deteriorates the aluminum. Odds are your block is ok to use

Re: chipped sleeve, check this (Battle2.0Eg)
if your gonna boost it its not gonna last forever anyway. i would have it decked to get rid of any high spots,so the gasket will seal. it should be ok
