Default Cheap man's ITR?

Hi,

I have a few questions regarding performance with a B16A head paired with an ITR block. I'm hoping someone here would be able to help me.

If I were to purchase an ITR block, what other parts would be necessary to obtain performance similar to a USDM ITR? And approximately how much would this cost me?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

why go itr block ,just go gsr with a b16 head (referred to as the poorman's type R)and build it to beat a itr motor. get pistons, valuetrain and someperformance cams and sprockets.

About how much would a new GSR block run me? And how far off, performance wise is a GSR block from an ITR block?

Thanks.

prolly about a grand.. depends what kinda deals you can find really..
gsr's are rated 170hp, itr 195hp..

if you want to run with other itr hybrid's follows trey's plan except for a couple things..

-keep your gsr crank- that'll be fine
-if using a b16 head don't waste money on a skunk2 intake mani, just get an itr
-jdm itr ecu? $350-400!?! sheesh.. what a waste.. get a custom chip or fuel controller instead..

my $.02

looks like u just want something thats fun to drive. Just pick up a bare b16 block, I think they go for 100 bucks or so now and get the works done to it. If u want to buy a block thats already built I hear L Natural is selling them. Suposedly 2.0 b16's for $2000. I dont know the web site.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought the Poor Man's ITR engine is an LS block mated to a B16A head with ITR cams.

itr block(bare)
b16 head
ctr or better cams(jun,toda,spoon,skunk2)cam gears
jdm 4-1 or better header(above)plus 2.5 cat
jdm ctr or itr pistons(depending on the comp you want)
v-afc&chipped ecu
stock t-body bored to 64(at least)
a clutch, flywheel, and lsd(help get all your power to the ground)
and lots of tuning...

a gsr head will raise the compression more than a stock pee16 head... but if you get some headwork and valvetrain done to a pee16 head then you will come out to having a real type-r... i like gsr heads since they help raise compression because of the shape of the chambers, but most peeps think pee16 heads are better... the choice is yours... im sure im forgetting some parts, its to early for me to think right now... im helping to of my friends put together a a list for poorman's they want to build... if you want to email me up, i can find a list of stuff to help you choose from... http://www.addictjpratt@hotmail.com
